Service Project
I was not impressed with the service project we participated earlier today at the library. Sure, we had alot of fun but i wish we could have actually done something that could have made a difference instead of entertain six children. Happily I enjoyed getting my face painted, putting a puzzle together, blowing bubble, and having a water balloon fight, but it didnt even cross my mind that I was doing this so I would be more encouraged to learn. This is most likely exactly how the children felt as well. While it was a good idea it was unbenifical to everyone involved other than to have a little fun. For me this was a waste of time and I would have felt a lot better if we would have done something that would have actually helped someone. Just because I have a negative view on our service project doesnt mean i didnt appreciate it for what it was. I learned a little on helping children and giving the positive encouragment. The kids were soo cute, even the ones who tried to eat bubbles and blow them in my face. Hopefully they have better luck next year and come up with more 'inspirational' activities.

It's true, the service project could have been more productive, but I feel as though the children (and us) did have a lot of fun. Some of the stations (Bag skits) were more popular than others, but the other tables looked equally as fun. I myself had a lot of fun at the play-dough, and matching station. Bulldog Fun Day may not have been as impressive as it could have been, but I think next year it'll improve.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the service project was a little boring but then again it was the first year they tried it so it will probably get better each year they do it. My favortie station was the playing cards and bag skits only because those were the main two successes. Maybe next time they'll add more activities.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the service project was a bit dull, and the fact that it was hot didn’t help any. The water balloon fight at the end, even though it was short, was pretty fun. It will definitely be better next year, and I’m sure there will be more kids.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Hannah, the service project would of been better if the library would of informed the community. In reality not a lot of people went, and there were lot's of new materials left over. Next time they should plan a service projcet for an entire day, and plan better activities with the studen'ts. The good thing about working with the community is that all the students are willing to work and help others!
