Montana

Since I have received many questions about what Montana is like this week, and made a lot of jokes to many of you who I think believed me I hope this blog will clear things up so you can truly understand what Montana is like.

How many people live in Montana? Well Montana's population has been slowly increasing over the years and is now up to about one million people.  Yes, this is for the entire state which is mainly composed of small rural towns and communtities.  Farming and Ranching is the soul of the state, but a majority of people do not live on a farm or raise animals at all.

Do you ride a horse to school?  No, I have never owned a horse.  Even though it is still a law in Montana that if a horse is ridden to school the school is required to take care of the horse, in 17 years of life living there I have never heard of a student riding a horse to school.

I also do not live in a cabin on a mountain in the middle of a vast forrest of pine trees (the christmasy ones!) and I do get electricity exactly like any house in Texas does.

The weather in Montana is very different.  It snowed at the end of May this year, alot! And no Texans, you would not like the snow.  Maybe for 10 mins until your fingers and nose started to get frigedly cold and tingled until you couldnt feel it.  You never get used to the feeling.  It is extreamly unpleasent.  It also gets very hot in Montana, but there is no humidity so it doesnt feel as bad as it does all the way down here.

The state is coved in pine trees in the west and is very mountainous.  The east is vey flat and looks like a waste land.  It is fairly common to see bears, mountain sheep, mountain lions, deer, elk, antelope, and much more.  Wildlife is everywhere.

I hope this cleared up some of your current ideas about Montana.

  1. Who asked you if you ride a horse to school? although it was kind of funny, it was a little bit over the top. Its pretty cool how you give us a brief description of montana and what its like. Also the fact that someone asked you if you live in the cabin in the woods is pretty funny.
